Ash Handling

Ash is the residue remaining after the coal is incinerated, in thermal power plant coal is generally used as fuel and hence ash is produced as the by-product of combustion. The most common types of ash include bottom ash, and fly ash resulting from the combustion of fuel. Ash handling refers to the method of collection, conveying, interim storage and load out of various types of ash residue left over from solid fuel combustion processes. Coarse ash material such as bottom ash is most often passed through Submerged Scrapper feeder chain Conveyor prior to being crushed in clinker grinders (crushers). Fly ash is collected in Electrostatic precipitator’s hoppers. Fly ash from ESP hoppers is extracted by Vacuum Pumps up to Intermediate Surge Hopper cum Bag Filter for further Dry Conveying to fly ash silo.
